Tyson (Ty) Chiaro, PhD, DMLI(ASCP), is an immunologist with a passion for immune tolerance. His doctoral research characterized a novel innate immune receptor and its role in protecting the host from inflammation-induced damage. He is currently a postdoctoral fellow and ASHI director-in-training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where his work focuses on clinical interpretation and workflow optimization in the HLA laboratory. Dr. Chiaro is board certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Diplomate in Laboratory Medical Immunology (DMLI). Outside the lab, he enjoys traveling and outdoor adventures.
