Dr. Lee Ann Baxter-Lowe is Clinical Professor of Pathology at the University of Southern California and Director of the HLA Laboratory at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Much of her research has involved improving transplant outcomes by developing new and improved laboratory assays and advancing our understanding of HLA’s role in transplantation. Her work is described in more than 180 publications. Today she will be describing recent research exploring the use of new digital imaging technology to quantify HLA expression in biopsy material and using this new knowledge to investigate the role of differences in HLA expression in rejection of transplanted solid organs.
