Dr. Fang Li earned her BSc and MSc degrees in Pharmacology from China Pharmaceutical University in China, followed by a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. She has conducted extensive research in the field of HLA for many years.
Dr. Li began her work in the HLA field at UCLA’s Immunogenetics Center as a postdoctoral scholar and advanced to the role of project scientist. During her tenure, she contributed to studies investigating the mechanisms by which HLA DSA contribute to chronic rejection, transplant arteriosclerosis, and graft loss—particularly focusing on their direct impact via signaling pathways.
She later served as a Project Scientist and HLA Technical Supervisor at the HLA and Immunogenetics Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she concentrated on test development and test improvement. In 2023, Dr. Li joined Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, as an HLA Director-in-Training in the Department of Pathology’s Tissue Typing Laboratory.
