Dr. Liacini is a Histocompatibility Laboratory Director at the American Red Cross. After completing his PhD (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), Dr. Liacini pursued a postdoctoral research and clinical fellowships in Transplant Immunology and Immunogenetics at University of Calgary and Calgary Laboratory Services (Calgary Alberta Canda). Dr. Liacini is board certified by the American Board of the Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics, and the American Board of Bioanalysis. Dr. Liacini is also a fellow of the American College of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics. Dr. Liacini has more than 20 years of experience in Transplant Immunology, Cancer Genomics, Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. His passion is providing high-quality and comprehensive clinical testing and consultation services to clinicians for donor selection, risk assessment, and post-transplant monitoring. Based on his research, Dr. Liacini has published over 45 research articles in scientific journals like Plos Biology, Transplantation, AJT, Tissue Antigens, HLA and Human Immunology. Dr. Liacini has led the development, validation, and implementation of several advanced clinical molecular tests including next-generation sequencing-based testing; Serum-based non-HLA antibody profiling, STR-based and NGS based post-bone-marrow transplantation engraftment monitoring testing. Dr. Liacini’s major interest is in the immunology of Solid organ & hematopoietic cell transplantation.
