With the aim of supporting recovery efforts after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Tsuyoshi Hachiya was an early member of the team that launched the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project, one of Japan's largest biobanks. There, he contributed to establishing the infrastructure for collecting samples and information from residents of the affected areas, as well as measuring and analyzing genome and omics data (Nature 2022; Lancet Healthy Longev 2023; Eur Heart J 2024; Alzheimers Dement 2025). In 2017, he founded Genome Analytics Japan Inc. to pursue the realization of personalized medicine based on genome and omics data, through human genome research and system development.
