Carly Amato-Menker, PhD is a Director-in-Training at the Virginia Commonwealth University Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Mary Philogene. She has been working in HLA for 19 years, starting as an HLA Technologist at Johns Hopkins University. Carly earned her PhD in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis in 2024 after defending her dissertation that examined the independent and collaborative roles of the sex chromosomes and gut microbiome in sexually dimorphic humoral immune responses.
