Krystal R. Bullard, MS, MLS (ASCP)CM, CHT (ACHI) is the manager of the HLA laboratory at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Krystal graduated from college with a biology degree and no clear idea of where her next steps should lead. She stumbled upon an advertisement for a Clinical Laboratory Science program and immediately knew that was the correct path. After graduation, Krystal found her way to St. Jude in a molecular laboratory. She loved the hospital and molecular diagnostics but not necessarily the day-to-day work of that specific laboratory. While she knew very little about the field of HLA, she applied for a position in the HLA laboratory and knew she had finally found her passion. 11 years later, Krystal loves the puzzle each day in HLA presents and looks forward to many more ahead as we learn more and technology advances.
