Amena Usmani, MD, MBA, D(ACHI) is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC San Diego Health, where she currently serves as Associate Director of the Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory and Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine. Dr. Usmani completed a combined residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, with fellowship training in transfusion medicine and histocompatibility and immunogenetics. Her research interests lie at the intersection of transfusion medicine and transplant immunology, with particular interests in adoption of molecular methodologies for ABO typing of deceased donors, as well as in the application of therapeutic apheresis in solid organ rejection and desensitization.
