Luis Hidalgo is the co-director of the HLA laboratory at the University of Alabama - Birmingham. He is a transplant immunologist who has worked in histocompatibility since 2008 and served as a board-certified director in Canada and the U.S. since 2012. His research interests focus on immune effector mechanisms of antibody-mediated rejection and transplant diagnostics. Dr. Hidalgo is the immediate past president of ASHI and continues to serve on various ASHI committees. He serves the general transplant community through work within the American Society of Transplantation, and previously on the OPTN.
